Tired of having your face in your phone? Aggravated when someone you're trying to have a convo with has their face in their phone? Yeah. We're all guilty of this at some point. When information is instantaneous, you want it instantaneously and it becomes a habit.
Dr. Taino Bendz has had enough! He's a New Zealand based engineer who got fed up with adults using their phones in front of the kids. So, he started running workshops and presentations about social media and smartphone usage (which we're thinking is bad). Now, he's designated March 19th as Phone Free Day. He believes we can improve our lives by becoming more mindful of when our phones are a help or hindrance.
We got this!
Helps: When your mom asks why you don't have children yet, and you have an urgent call to take-- even though your phone didn't ring.
Hindrance: When you shout out "Nice abs!" thanks to a potential hookup sending you a pic-- as your boss is talking about something important in your Zoom call.
Here's a thought beyond Phone Free Day-- put your damn phone down when you're in the presence of someone else that you're trying to socialize with. You can do that every day! What a concept-- and we're not even a doctor or had to conduct some fancy study.
