We love Christmas. We even decorate early for Christmas because it sparks joy. But we still respect the bird, meaning, Thanksgiving. Oh yeah… that holiday of gratitude and Pilgrims sitting down with Native Americans to break wishbones and commune with family BEFORE Christmas.
With that being said, we’re so glad Ben Rector dropped a Thanksgiving song on us. Because the last one we remember is that song from Adam Sandler.
Ben said on his YouTube page: “When I started putting together the Christmas album, I realized I hadn't ever heard a Thanksgiving song. I feel like everyone has an emotional connection and a lot of memories around Thanksgiving, just like they do Christmas, so I did my best to write a song that honored that. I hope this song captures the magic and nostalgia that we all look forward to at Thanksgiving. I also secretly hope that this becomes the official theme song for Thanksgiving (this is both based on that I think the song is a very good Thanksgiving song and also that it is the only Thanksgiving song).”
We feel you, Ben. Now, pass the potatoes…
Time for some real talk. It totally sucks when you have Celiac or food allergies and you feel excluded from chowing down, because, well... consequences. A big part of the holidays is baking. Wouldn't it be great to bake and indulge without worrying about said consequences?
That's where Little GF Chefs steps up. They've created kits that are safe for those that have sensitivities. The whole family can enjoy:
Gingerbread House: This sweet kit has everything you need to make and decorate two mini gingerbread houses.
Snowman Cupcakes: So perfect for sharing at your holiday party! And... fun to decorate!
Cookie Dough Hearts: A batch of 60 bite-sized hearts will be a hit with the entire family.
Again-- these are all gluten free! You and the kiddos can bake with confidence, and yumminess!
P.S. Don't mind if we try to eat all the heart-shaped cookies by ourselves. Santa can get some others at the next stop...
Those days from childhood pleading for your parents to take you to McDonald's because that was like nirvana: a non-creepy clown, delicious eats, a playground. Anything was better than that homemade hamburger on bread. All mushy and not fun. Some people grow out of the fast food love; others are still livin' that grab-and-go lifestyle.
Lawnstarter crunched some numbers with their Frostys and determined that Orlando is the Best City for Fast Food Lovers. In fact, Orlando has more fast food joints per 100,000 residents than any other city. #nugdrop. Not only do the traditional fast food joints give O the crown, they've got a lot of fast international options, like Canadian cheese curds, authentic Mexican burritos, and traditional Caribbean nibbles.
If the mere mention of fast food is making your ass wider, let's put a twist on a fast food fav-- that is calorie-kinder. From our buds at iowagirleats.com:
Big Mac Salad
(makes 5-6 salads)
1lb ground beef
Seasoned salt and pepper
3 heads romaine lettuce, chopped
1 red onion, thinly sliced
Freshly shredded cheddar cheese
Cherry, grape, or vine-ripened tomatoes, chopped
Dill pickles, chopped
For the Special Sauce Salad Dressing:
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup French dressing (could use ketchup)
2 Tablespoons minced pickles
2 Tablespoons minced onion (red or white)
1 Tablespoon distilled white vinegar
For the Special Sauce Salad Dressing: Add ingredients to a bowl then whisk to combine. Can be made several days ahead of time.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat then add the ground beef. Let the beef cook undisturbed until the bottom is golden brown then add a few shakes Worcestershire sauce, season with seasoned salt and pepper, and continue to saute until cooked through. Scoop onto a paper towel lined plate to drain and cool slightly.
Once slightly cooled, divie lettuce between plates or bowls then top with the cooked ground beef, red onion, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and dill pickles. Drizzle with Special Sauce Salad Dressing then serve.

When someone says “quilt” you think… what? Grandma. Farmhouse décor. Something from 1826. Babies.
Not anymore. With home décor trends like Cottagecore and Cluttercore, quilts fit right in there. And this holiday season may be the Season of the Quilt. Because quilting ain’t for grannies any longer.
Gotham Quilts is the place for modern quilters. And they’re here to help us make quilting a completely fab experience with these tips.
Do buy quality fabrics or materials! This will elevate your decor from simply being homemade to being a personalized treasure. It will also add to the longevity of what you create, making it something you can cherish for years to come.
Crack Wisedom: Great. We were going to use a collage of old underwear.
Don’t be afraid to ask an expert! If you’re wanting to make something special and cozy for the holidays but aren’t quite sure where to start, there’s no shame in seeking out help to make sure you get on the right track.
Crack Wisedom: Do I have to wear Depends to quilt?
Do start thinking now of what you may want to include in your space. Embarking on crafting a piece for your home, especially something like a quilt, will take time. It’s good to start thinking now of what you may like as far as color, texture, and how you want to feature what you make. From there you can figure out a solid plan before beginning to make the piece!
Crack Wisedom: Would it be inappropriate to quilt a giant ween?
Don’t take on too much. Sometimes our eyes can be a bit bigger than our stomachs -- when considering what you’d like to make, also weigh the time and attention needed to make that piece. If you don’t feel confident that it can be done in the amount of time you have, try considering an alternative that you know you can accomplish and feel good about displaying in your home.
Crack Wisedom: One square of a quilt blanket is all then!
Gotham Quilts has virtual classes and events to help you live your best quilt life.
Your mouth deserves nothing but the best. Oral B is out. CURAPROX is in. While it may sound like a disease, this innovative toothbrush combines 12,460 fine Curen filaments with a user-friendly ergonomic design to promote a healthier mouth. It’s Swiss. So, it’s fancy. A bunch of “oral-care virtuosos” created this molar-changer.
They’re totally trendy. They supposedly get the job done. The CS 12460 Velvet removes plaque without grinding down enamel. And it feels like velvet on your teeth. (But wouldn’t that make you brush harder?) And, you can chose from 36 different colors.
We say get one for multiple moods. They’re only $8.49 on Amazon.
It’s getting colder. And yes, you’ll be sensible and throw on some layers. But a perfectly nonsensical way to stay “warm” is via some good ol’ boozy booze.
We say—go traditional—with your fake warmth with this:
