In a world where we can easily be caught-up in trying to create the best life, and to earn the praise of others—it can be absolutely soul-crushing. It can leave us empty—even if we reach whatever goal. Tauren Wells brings us a simple, beautiful concept in his song “Known.” That concept—you’re loved for who you are in this moment. Not what you did, or what you might accomplish. You are truly known by a pure being who just wants to have a relationship with you as you are. Wells is a five-time Grammy Award Nominee, a Dove Award winner for New Artist of the Year 2018, and is well on his way to superstardom. His voice is smooth like butter, and the simplicity of this tune paired with its simply-sweet message fills your heart. There is other-worldly comfort here: When we speak of true love, this is it. Flawless. Not spoiled by human shortcomings and judgements. Sniff. Sniff. We might be experiencing some emotion here. Sigh. "Known" It's so unusual it's frightening You see right through the mess inside me And you call me out to pull me in You tell me I can start again And I don't need to keep on hiding I'm fully known and loved by You You won't let go no matter what I do And it's not one or the other It's hard truth and ridiculous grace To be known fully known and loved by You I'm fully known and loved by You It's so like You to keep pursuing It's so like me to go astray, ooh But You guard my heart with Your truth The kind of love that's bullet proof And I surrender to Your kindness, oh I'm fully known and loved by You You won't let go no matter what I do And it's not one or the other It's hard truth and ridiculous grace To be known fully known and loved by You I'm fully known and loved by You How real, how wide How rich, how high is Your heart I cannot find the reasons why You give me so much How real, how wide How rich, how high is Your heart Now, I cannot find the reasons why You give me so much I'm fully known (fully known) and loved by You You won't let go (no you won't let go) no matter what I do And it's not one or the other It's hard truth and ridiculous grace To be known fully known and loved by You I'm fully known and loved by You It's so unusual it's frightening I'm fully known and loved by You Like what you read here? Ever had a song just slap you in the face, and you absolutely dig it? That’s how we feel about Emily Brimlow’s tune “Hope”. She has such a unique voice and tone. It’s addicting. And there is nothing wrong with this type of addiction. Emily’s love for average folk inspired this song. “I wanted to write a tribute to the everyday person.” Emily says, “A song to the ones who find a reason to smile even when they’re down.” We can easily see ourselves putting this one on repeat, happily. Over the course of a lifetime, it may feel like everything and everyone is against you. And that no one understands how you feel. But, you are not alone. Grammy award-winning duo for King & Country addresses that commonality in “God Only Knows”. We can’t really describe the magnitude of this song. Just listen for yourself. Powerful. Inspirational. If we’re completely honest, we can admit that life sometimes is just… hard. Not that we’ve expected puppy kisses and rainbows to cover all our days. But... We all could use a little inspiration. That’s where David Leonard saves the day. He’s performed with NEEDTOBREATHE and All Sons & Daughters, and now he’s solo. His debut album The Wait arrives in March filled with stories of identity and God’s faithfulness. The first single, “Threads”, is about surrender, healing, grace—and rebuilding. Tired of trying to keep it all together Tired of lies disguising who I really am There's pain that’s hiding underneath the surface I’m tired of trying to keep it on the inside But here before Your love I’m not afraid Oh oh, I’m gonna let You pull the threads ‘til my heart unravels Open me up with every breath ‘til the darkness scatters and runs away I’m ready to fall apart Fall into Your loving arms I’m gonna let You pull the threads ‘til my heart unravels into Yours You’re reaching out Your hand To pull me close again You see me as I am still You want me Here before Your love I'm not afraid You stitch me back together With Your grace If you’ve ever had questions, hopes, disappointments... then this album may be worth a listen. If you strip the labels off of Christian Contemporary music, you might find you like it. Planetshakers has a fun, vibrant, praise-filled song, “Heaven on Earth”. Is there talk of God, the Kingdom and Jesus? Yup. What we enjoy about CCM is that it’s good music with a message that doesn’t feel like an uncomfortable wooden church pew with no cushion. “When Jesus taught us to pray, He encouraged us to ask for God’s Kingdom to come on earth as it is in Heaven. This is the heart and desire of this song. That we would experience the Kingdom of God. This Kingdom of joy, freedom, peace and healing as we worship together. And as the presence of God is manifest. This Our prayer is that listeners will listen to this song and experience a piece of Heaven on earth.” - Joshua Brown, Planetshakers Whether you believe or not, this song is uplifting. No Crack Wising here. Just wise listening. Soothe your soul with this one. |
