There was a time when Scott Stapp was on top of the world. His band, Creed, had jet-rocketed into outer space after gaining airplay on a hometown radio station. There wasn’t a song that wasn’t a hit. And then the bottom fell out. Substance abuse. Egos. Too much fame and fortune. Most recently, Scott had hit rock bottom—again. But now, he’s back. And dare we say—rockin’ fabulous. His latest track, “Purpose For Pain” is delicious rock as it should be—heavy guitars, tight harmonies, and Scott’s unmistakable vocal stylizing. The song is about "…Seeking a higher meaning, a spiritual mentality when dealing with our struggles and life’s painful moments. There are unexplainable, dark times that everyone goes through, and that pain is real. If we can dig deep and hold on to hope during the most difficult situations, believing there is a purpose waiting for us on the others side, we can find meaning and clarity that gives us the strength to keep fighting.” Fight on… Like what you read here? Apple wants to be King of Everything, doesn’t it seem? Technology, music platforms, and now the latest feature--New Music Daily. Every day (thus, daily LOL) more than 60 new tracks reflecting “Apple Music’s Editorial point of view” on the best new music will be delivered. The company is billing it as a “carefully curated, hand-picked library of fresh tracks from the best artists across every genre of music.” Uhm, thanks. But we rarely follow what critics say when it comes to entertainment. But that’s not all! Apple Music editors will choose one song each day to feature in the top spot on the playlist, and the selected artist will be the “cover person”. So, is Apple going to feature up-and-coming artists, or just pick the low-lying fruit (see what we did there?) like good ol’ TayTay? Like what you read here? When you mess with a drama queen, you get a big headache and broken heart. But when Coin sings this tale of woe in “Crash My Car”, a love encounter with a drama queen might be fun—even through the damage. The lightness of this track, paired with some group vocalizing make this a fun ditty about someone you claim you don’t want to encounter. Let’s face it. We all have a little drama within... Morgxn bares his soul on his latest single “A New Way.” While many artists inject a part of themselves into their work, this song is all about the singer’s struggles with bullying, coming-out, and life’s b.s.—but it’s presented in a way that anyone can identify with. The theme of the song: you can feel hurt, and scared, but you shouldn’t let that stop you from trying to make the world a better place. Morgxn received a lot of hate after the release of his song “Holy Water”—because he wore a dress in the video and painted his nails. Uh…. Perhaps some of these spewing tools are not familiar with glam rock, or the late Prince—in all his androgyny and high-heeled-booted glory. Anywho, “A New Way” is pretty darned cool. Be you. His latest feel-gooder is “Don’t Give Up On Me”, which is featured in the film Five Feet Apart. It’s the perfect song to express your devotion to the one that makes your heart beat. It’s as if he’s gotten into your head and wrote the song you always wanted. Grammer shared this on his YouTube post about this song: “My journey in music has staggering highs and lows. I have seasons where I feel like I can’t miss, where I feel quite literally invincible. Then there are seasons where I wonder if I will ever write anything true or special again, whether I have anything to offer, whether I have simply fooled everyone up to this point. I am a positive guy but that just means that I go to war with my head when these doubts attack. The smile is often a smile through some sort of intense struggle. This is normal. This is everyone. If you hear this song and it inspires you to not give up on someone or better yet yourself I am with you. I am vulnerable, weak, unsure, while also being stubborn, hopeful, and optimistic. It’s a package deal. Keep telling me in the comments someone you haven’t given up on. Reading these comments is feeding my soul.” We *heart* you, Andy. Like what you read here? There is nothing more irritating than when you can’t get a song out of your head. Especially if it’s bad or cheesy. But “Good” from Twin XL is worth the irritation. Because it’s… good. This may be their debut single, but they’re no newbies. Twin XL is the brainchild of songwriters/producers Cameron Walker, Stephen Gomez, and John Gomez. The dudes cut their musical teeth in other bands, would run into each other at random gigs and events, and eventually decided to hang in the studio one day and see what became of it. Glad it happened. “Good” has a Fitz and The Tantrums feel: Upbeat. Finger-tappy. Head-noddy. The tune broke with help from shows like The Resident on FOX, Hulu’s Light as a Feather and Ex on the Beach on MTV. Feelin’ “good” now… P.S. Thank goodness this story is complete. Or we would've attempted to use "good" more often... Like what you read here? Twenty One Pilots is a pretty friggin’ cool band. The music rocks. And, they know it’s all about their fans—which have been deemed the “Skeleton Clique”. The Clique was front and center with a contest in partnership with Creative Allies to design tour posters. Nearly 30,000 fans participated. Winning artists scored $250, two tickets to the Bandito Tour, an autographed merchandise pack, and recognition on social media. One grand prize winner scored an all-expenses-paid trip to the band’s hometown Columbus, Ohio, show and a meet-and-greet. Sebastian Kowoll was the big winner. “I'm at a point in life where I have gained some confidence with my art, but there were a LOT of submissions and many amazing ones. So being chosen as the winner is a super humbling, validating and truly rewarding experience.” Well said. We would’ve said: “Suck my paint brush, bitches.” Like what you read here? We’re hoping we are trending away from music without guitars and solos. BRKN LOVE brings us all the guitars, and some damn fine vocals with “Shot Down”. This tune is heavy, but not noisy—as if these fellas know how to play music. That’s refreshing. Plus, it’s a much needed testosterone blast in this man-bun wearing world. Let’s have a little fun with their band photo. A “What Am I Thinking”? caption contest: Dude #1: “Did I leave the neck massager plugged in?” Dude #2: “HA HA HA HA… What?” Dude #3: “I can’t believe I’m in a band with these turds.” Dude #4: “I shouldn’t have had jalapenos on those tacos.” Add your captions below... Whether it’s the end of the world, life going by too fast, partying instead of responsibility—who cares? The tune reminds us of an 80s British smash hit from some band in hip clothes, spiked hair and eyeliner with a rebel attitude. We have sweet synths in our ears and dancing-like-there’s-no-tomorrow in our souls… Like what you read here?
