It’s not the Jackson 5 version, but Walk Off the Earth’s “I’ll Be There” carries a loving sentiment. It’s not the romantical kind, but it is a song all about love done up in a pop-reggae vibe... I’ll be there for the highs and lows Give you mine if your heart gets broke By your side when you’re all alone I will be there When you’re down on your luck No ride home and you got too drunk 2am I will pick you up I will be there The band has been through its share of heartache. Last December Mike “Beard Guy” Taylor died from natural causes in his sleep, just as the band was ready to embark on a world tour. They’re on the road now, on the road to healing. And with this tune, we know that someone will always have our back. Like what you read here? Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Natasha Bedingfield is back and en fuego. On the heels of her fourth album release, she’s just dropped the tune “Kick It”. It’s a nice anthem—perfect for what’s left of summer—full of hope when it comes to keeping a relationship on track despite the ups and downs. Her soulful, yet airy vocals makes everything she touches pop perfection. Roll With Me drops August 30th. P.S. Wonder how her brother Daniel Bedingfield feels? He broke into the biz before sis and had one really big hit... and then... zzzzz. Like, what does he get her for Christmas? Like what you read here? When you need some uplifting, Andy Grammer is good for that. He’s genuine in all his sentiments. And, he’s truly a nice dude. His latest feel-gooder is “Don’t Give Up On Me”, which is featured in the film Five Feet Apart. It’s the perfect song to express your devotion to the one that makes your heart beat. It’s as if he’s gotten into your head and wrote the song you always wanted. Grammer shared this on his YouTube post about this song: “My journey in music has staggering highs and lows. I have seasons where I feel like I can’t miss, where I feel quite literally invincible. Then there are seasons where I wonder if I will ever write anything true or special again, whether I have anything to offer, whether I have simply fooled everyone up to this point. I am a positive guy but that just means that I go to war with my head when these doubts attack. The smile is often a smile through some sort of intense struggle. This is normal. This is everyone. If you hear this song and it inspires you to not give up on someone or better yet yourself I am with you. I am vulnerable, weak, unsure, while also being stubborn, hopeful, and optimistic. It’s a package deal. Keep telling me in the comments someone you haven’t given up on. Reading these comments is feeding my soul.” We *heart* you, Andy. Like what you read here? There is nothing more irritating than when you can’t get a song out of your head. Especially if it’s bad or cheesy. But “Good” from Twin XL is worth the irritation. Because it’s… good. This may be their debut single, but they’re no newbies. Twin XL is the brainchild of songwriters/producers Cameron Walker, Stephen Gomez, and John Gomez. The dudes cut their musical teeth in other bands, would run into each other at random gigs and events, and eventually decided to hang in the studio one day and see what became of it. Glad it happened. “Good” has a Fitz and The Tantrums feel: Upbeat. Finger-tappy. Head-noddy. The tune broke with help from shows like The Resident on FOX, Hulu’s Light as a Feather and Ex on the Beach on MTV. Feelin’ “good” now… P.S. Thank goodness this story is complete. Or we would've attempted to use "good" more often... Like what you read here? Usually themes of destruction are dark and depressing, obviously. But Johnny Marr makes it all okay with his tune “Armatopia”. Whether it’s the end of the world, life going by too fast, partying instead of responsibility—who cares? The tune reminds us of an 80s British smash hit from some band in hip clothes, spiked hair and eyeliner with a rebel attitude. We have sweet synths in our ears and dancing-like-there’s-no-tomorrow in our souls… Like what you read here? Haaaay there, Tom Walker. We’re feelin’ ya. We understand why you won the British Breakthrough Act at the Brit Awards 2019. His song, “Just You and I” is huge in his neck of the woods. And now it’s jumped the pond. The song was originally an old acoustic number, but Walker reworked the track, adding some reggae touches, and re-released the song this year for his debut album. The song is an homage to his girlfriend, Annie. Awwww! By the time of the re-release, he proposed and she said “Yes”. Awwww. Thanks for inspiring Tom, future-Mrs.-Walker! We get joy from your joy. It may be fun and impractical, but there’s a teeny tiny small part in all of us that desires a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of fling. Apparently the girl in “Girl” from Paper Jackets dances in her underwear, and you’ll want to do the same, too. We suggest you not be in the office when said underwear-dancing takes place… And we suggest you find a wild fling that doesn’t dabble with drugs and has a respectable job. Otherwise, inhibitions be gone! Like what you read here? What weirdo mind-control does Taylor Swift have over people? Seriously, shouldn’t her core fan base have outgrown her by now? Don’t get us wrong, we’re not haters. We’re just… amazed, really. Every artist has their sweet spot career time. But this gal has had, what, a good 13 years? We think that even if she committed mass murder, she’d still sell a gajillion albums and get butts in those stadium seats. Her 7th studio album “Lover” has already set a new Apple Music Record as the most pre-added album by a female artist ever on the platform in the first day with 178,600 adds. It’s also the most pre-added pop album. Lover drops officially August 23rd. Here’s a Tay tune we dig: P.S. On that Lover cover... it appears to us that Tay got a tit-tay job... Or maybe it's just the angle. Like what you read here? Click on the HOME page and subscribe today to unlock premium, members-only content—some of which you won’t find any place else on the internet! Though, we must admit, we are fans of frontman Johnny Rzeznik. Fun dude. Stories of said dude. Maybe when we get to writing that memoir… but we digress. But their latest effort “Miracle Pill” is stuck-in-your-head-delightful. Yes, delightful. For a band that’s been around since the late 80s, they’ve done a good job of evolving their sound. While some are bitchin’ and moanin’ that there isn’t enough guitar in this track, we say—it’s okay. While we’re fans of guitars, it’s a nice change of pace to hear different sounds in a song. We feel ya, Johnny. We all want to snuggle up with our own miracle pill... Like what you read here? Allow us to introduce you to 4th & Orange. They’re a brand new SoCal pop-reggae band with such a cool vibe. Their debut single “Girl Next Door” is the perfect cruisin’ tune, sippin’ beverages tune, need-to-get-away-from-work tune. The boys from Long Beach have spent the past half-decade honing their writing and musical skills. Now, they’ve signed their record deal and are ready to infect us with infectious melodies and grooves, and storytelling. Make yourself a nice cocktail and drift away with this one. Ah, yes….
