Twenty One Pilots is a pretty friggin’ cool band. The music rocks. And, they know it’s all about their fans—which have been deemed the “Skeleton Clique”. The Clique was front and center with a contest in partnership with Creative Allies to design tour posters. Nearly 30,000 fans participated. Winning artists scored $250, two tickets to the Bandito Tour, an autographed merchandise pack, and recognition on social media. One grand prize winner scored an all-expenses-paid trip to the band’s hometown Columbus, Ohio, show and a meet-and-greet. Sebastian Kowoll was the big winner. “I'm at a point in life where I have gained some confidence with my art, but there were a LOT of submissions and many amazing ones. So being chosen as the winner is a super humbling, validating and truly rewarding experience.” Well said. We would’ve said: “Suck my paint brush, bitches.” Like what you read here? We’re hoping we are trending away from music without guitars and solos. BRKN LOVE brings us all the guitars, and some damn fine vocals with “Shot Down”. This tune is heavy, but not noisy—as if these fellas know how to play music. That’s refreshing. Plus, it’s a much needed testosterone blast in this man-bun wearing world. Let’s have a little fun with their band photo. A “What Am I Thinking”? caption contest: Dude #1: “Did I leave the neck massager plugged in?” Dude #2: “HA HA HA HA… What?” Dude #3: “I can’t believe I’m in a band with these turds.” Dude #4: “I shouldn’t have had jalapenos on those tacos.” Add your captions below... Whether it’s the end of the world, life going by too fast, partying instead of responsibility—who cares? The tune reminds us of an 80s British smash hit from some band in hip clothes, spiked hair and eyeliner with a rebel attitude. We have sweet synths in our ears and dancing-like-there’s-no-tomorrow in our souls… Like what you read here? Fifty years ago, The Doors released their fourth studio album The Soft Parade. It was the band’s fourth straight Top 10 album featuring one of the group’s biggest hits, "Touch Me". To commemorate the album’s 50th anniversary, Rhino is releasing on October 16th newly expanded three CD/one LP set. The Soft Parade: 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition includes the original studio album, and the B-Side "Who Scared You", as well as more than a dozen unreleased songs. The collection is a limited edition of 15,000 individually numbered copies, and also includes the original album on 180-gram vinyl, along with liner notes from rock journalist David Fricke. And, this is pretty sweet—a hand-numbered 36x18 lithograph of the interior vinyl gatefold artwork, limited to 500 copies, is available while supplies last. And there’s more… so much more. His song, “Just You and I” is huge in his neck of the woods. And now it’s jumped the pond. The song was originally an old acoustic number, but Walker reworked the track, adding some reggae touches, and re-released the song this year for his debut album. The song is an homage to his girlfriend, Annie. Awwww! By the time of the re-release, he proposed and she said “Yes”. Awwww. Thanks for inspiring Tom, future-Mrs.-Walker! We get joy from your joy. If it’s the same for you, plus you love music, and you’re an environmentalist—then this could be a way to tick this off your list. Paul Simon is putting on two special concerts at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, August 13th and 14th with all net proceeds donated to The Auwahi Forest Restoration Project and Kua’aina Ulu ‘Auamo. This is the first time Simon has ever performed on Maui, and his first Hawaiian shows since Simon & Garfunkel appeared in Honolulu in 1968. Simon doesn’t tour anymore, and only performs the occasional concert to donate to philanthrophic organizations. Tickets start at $55. Pack your grass skirt and get lei-d… Like what you read here? Love should be wild an uninhibited. Songs about loving a free spirit are always good for the soul. It may be fun and impractical, but there’s a teeny tiny small part in all of us that desires a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of fling. Apparently the girl in “Girl” from Paper Jackets dances in her underwear, and you’ll want to do the same, too. We suggest you not be in the office when said underwear-dancing takes place… And we suggest you find a wild fling that doesn’t dabble with drugs and has a respectable job. Otherwise, inhibitions be gone! Like what you read here? What weirdo mind-control does Taylor Swift have over people? Seriously, shouldn’t her core fan base have outgrown her by now? Don’t get us wrong, we’re not haters. We’re just… amazed, really. Every artist has their sweet spot career time. But this gal has had, what, a good 13 years? We think that even if she committed mass murder, she’d still sell a gajillion albums and get butts in those stadium seats. Her 7th studio album “Lover” has already set a new Apple Music Record as the most pre-added album by a female artist ever on the platform in the first day with 178,600 adds. It’s also the most pre-added pop album. Lover drops officially August 23rd. Here’s a Tay tune we dig: P.S. On that Lover cover... it appears to us that Tay got a tit-tay job... Or maybe it's just the angle. Like what you read here? Click on the HOME page and subscribe today to unlock premium, members-only content—some of which you won’t find any place else on the internet! Prices for the hookup from from $99/month to $299/month. Depending on the plan, you can publish tour dates, auto update videos and news, subscribe fans, send broadcasts, and use a fan data warehouse. Is it worth it? Find out for yourself, future Rock and Roll Hall of famers. P.S. We're pretty sure Bruno can afford the $299/month plan. Like what you read here? We’ve always been on the fence about the Goo Goo Dolls. We don’t mind their music, but we wouldn’t pay to see them in concert. Though, we must admit, we are fans of frontman Johnny Rzeznik. Fun dude. Stories of said dude. Maybe when we get to writing that memoir… but we digress. But their latest effort “Miracle Pill” is stuck-in-your-head-delightful. Yes, delightful. For a band that’s been around since the late 80s, they’ve done a good job of evolving their sound. While some are bitchin’ and moanin’ that there isn’t enough guitar in this track, we say—it’s okay. While we’re fans of guitars, it’s a nice change of pace to hear different sounds in a song. We feel ya, Johnny. We all want to snuggle up with our own miracle pill... Like what you read here?
