It’s hard to believe that the year is nearly over. Time flies, but does it need to travel at the speed of sound? Speaking of sound, Apple Music invites us all to take a trip down musical memory lane with its new feature Apple Music Replay. Subscribers can relive the highs, lows, and whatevers of 2019. And with AMR, a playlist with your top songs is created for you. Love it when we don’t have to think… Robots will really take over the world some day. We found Christmas music we can identify with--Ana Gasteyer’s Sugar & Booze. It combines all the things we love, Christmas, music, and inappropriateness. The SNL alum’s latest is a throwback. “We set out to make a new Holiday album with a throwback feel,” said Gasteyer. “This album is a nod to the swing sound of the 50's and 60's but with a modern twist, with a full-bodied sound, that I hope makes people feel joyful, jolly, and gay.” The songwriter and arrangement is spot-on, and Ana has the perfect voice for such a venture. This might become our new favorite Christmas album. Kanye West. So much fodder over the years. Whether you like him or hate him, you can’t deny that he is talented. The debate is raging over the internets and in the media as to whether or not Kanye’s new-found faith is real or a stunt. We don’t know his heart, and this is not something for us to judge. His latest album “Jesus is King” has exploded up the charts. And his single “Follow God” spins a tale of searching, understanding what people are spewing, but trying to live a better, soul-saving life. We give him props for having the stones to boldly proclaim his faith. Because whether or not it’s a stunt, his proclamations have ramifications. He sounds so dreamy—as a an artist and as relationship material. Max (feat. Chromeo) is the man to deliver on your checklist, ladies. Best known for his huge “Lights Down Low” and his gold single “Love Me Less”, Max is proving that his Top 40 game is getting stronger every song. In his latest effort, his smooth-like-butter vocals paired with his just-right groove makes “Checklist” hard to ignore. Plus, he’s all about pleasing a lady. Our ears are pleased as well. Fellas, take note… Lil Nas X isn’t the best singer. The rapping is okay. It helps that he's a cutie. But the video for “Panini” is da bomb. Guess the object of his affection is named “Panini.” We first thought the title was a play on the Jamaican term “punaany”, which is slang for a lady’s… honey pot. But most importantly, we were hoping this was a song about a tasty sandwich. Not so much. In theaters now: Mountaintop. It's a slice-of-life documentary chronicling Neil Young's process with Crazy Horse making their first album in seven years-- in the mountains of Colorado. Well, not literally in the mountains. But you know what we mean. You'll get the inside scoop behind the music-making process, and get a healthy NyQuil taste of Neil's... personality. The band's been together for 50 years. Crazy, isn't it? It's an Apple world, and we best conform now. In its quest to shape our musical minds, the brand has launched its R&B Now playlist-- formerly known as The A-List. The cover art will feature a different artist each week and that artist's tune will be crowned with the #1 spot on the playlist. It seems to be magical, because Atlanta-based newcomer Summer Walker has enjoyed a surge in streaming thanks to the bite of this Apple. She was the inaugural cover dame. Yes, we used the word "dame". Wish we had some musical skill... does the Flutophone count? Rock and rollers coming together for our veterans. That’s the gist of VetsAid—an event created by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Joe Walsh. The third annual event will go down on Sunday, November 10th (Veterans Day Eve) at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. This year’s proceeds recipients are: Combined Arms, Headstrong Project, United States Veterans Initiative, Next Op Veterans, Vets4Warriors, Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, Swords to Plowshares, and Sentinels of Freedom. VetsAid has distributed more than $1.2 million to veteran-serving non-profits since 2017. Performing this year: ZZ Top, Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow, Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, and Joe Walsh—whose father died while on active duty in Okinawa, Japan, when Walsh was just 20-months-old. Because though you may resist as hard as you can, you will find yourself liking the track “Chicken Noodle Soup.” K-Pop darling J-Hope and Becky G collaborate for the earworm, and the viral #ChickenNoodleSoupChallenge, where the yung-ins try to imitate J-Hope’s too-slick-for-planet-Earth dance moves. Chicken noodle soup and a can of pop (as we call it in this neck of the woods) is the ultimate feel-better combo. And J-Hope and Becky G are as well. Chicken noodle soup Chicken noodle soup Chicken noodle soup With a soda on the side We complicate things. We get in our own way. If we had a more simplistic approach to life and loving ourselves, we’d be happier. That’s the gist of The Head and The Heart’s “See You Through My Eyes”. How many times have we muffed something from overthinking? Or thinking our baggage will ruin everything? We all have baggage. So, let’s move on.. This all could be so easy… Like what you read here?
