So, some Disney star (Josh Gad) wore this watch from Hydrogen Watch during a Frozen 2 fan event in Toronto. And everyone went gaga over it (we’re assuming). After seeing the price tag, we need to come up for air: $595. We suppose if you’re a Disney star, you can afford all the $595 watches you want. Sure, it’s stainless steel (361L to be exact). Yes, it’s water-resistant up to 100 meters (are you Jacques Cousteau?). And the crystal is scratch-resistant (right). But let’s be honest. If you’re like the average dude, you’re going to bang this watch up. Accidentally smash the face. Fall watch-arm-first into a toilet (it could happen). And there goes $595. Just shop on Amazon and get the same style watch, but cheaper. Maybe even a drone will deliver it to your homestead. We appreciate causes. We appreciate jewelry with a cause. Nan Fusco has designed a unique spinning arrow ring to honor her daughter who’s been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A spinning arrow through diamonds represents courage as one moves forward. When the arrow is turned, the word KOA is revealed. KOA is Hawaiian for “the strong, brave, and fearless” Or, “warrior”. For each ring sold, Nan Fusco is donating all profits to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN.) But, the price tag is hefty. $900 hefty. It is for a good cause…. Like what you read here? We understand the concept that jewelry has value. Because gold and diamonds and gems are commodities. We might own a precious piece or two, but our main jewelry finds are those of the Charming Charlie kind—and we’re proud of it! But for those with sophisticated tastes, you’ll be happy to hear that celebrity jewelry designer Tara Familglietti has launched a new collection ONDYN. The 30-pieces range from earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces and celebrates your sleek elegance. (Definitely doesn’t apply to us!) The pieces drape like second skin (Hello, Silence of the Lambs), taking shape on the body and “sending diamonds literally in motion. We’re in motion, alright, from passing out from the price tag. These earrings are the cheapest, at $595. There’s no wonder Familglietti is the “jewelry designer to the stars”. They’re the ones with all that “eff you” money. For us, ONDYN stands for: Oh No Dude You’re Nuts Like what you read here? We know celebrities are not “just like us”, despite that stupid Us Weekly feature (does that even still exist?). They’re out of touch with reality and make a ton of money that apparently needs spent on over-priced items. Like these Natalie McMillan earrings:
Lacey Chabert wore them to some press appearance Granted, she probably got them for free to wear. But to then think the average female is going to drop $700 for these?
HA HA HA HA HA HA! Are these earrings going to do my laundry and rub my feet? The price tag for some earrings that are bound to get lost is a whole bunch of ridic. Some things you can get for $700: Lots of groceries A down payment on a vacay Two or three new wardrobes Pay your utilities for months Get a new phone (still kinda ridic) Lots and lots of wine Many wonderful subscriptions to Crack Wise (just $14.99/yaer) Usually, we aren’t fans of couples that match. Gag. We get it. You loves each other sooo much and you’re sooo in-sync with each other that you wear matchy-matchy stuff. Just. No. In fact, it’s a little potential-serial-killer-in-the-making creepy. But this is the exception. His & Hers watches from SOLGAARD DESIGN. They match when it comes to shape, so that’s acceptable. Sustainable product entrepreneur Adrian Solgaard is a fan of function and environmental consciousness. These unique hex-shaped timepieces are made from the highest-grade stainless steel, harnessing “gravitational logic” allowing the brain to tell time faster. What? We don’t even know what that means, but it sounds super groovy to us! If time isn’t your thing, there are other items you could buy for yourself and your sweetie. Plus, a portion of proceeds will go towards the removal of five pounds of plastic from the world’s oceans. This is good Valentine’s Day gifting. |
